Edward de Bono is a famous writer and consultant from Malta.

Childhood and youth

Edward Charles Francis Publius de Bono was born on May 19, 1933. He studied at the University of Malta, where he received medical education. During the Second World War he studied at St. Edward’s College.

He also studied at Christ Church College, where his specialization was psychology and physiology. During his studies he won two awards in canoe racing and played polo at Oxford University.

He studied and received a Ph. D. in Trinity College, and then continued his studies and received a doctorate in theology and a doctorate in law from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and the University of Dundee, respectively.

Career

For a short while he worked as a junior researcher at Oxford University, and then became a teacher. In 1961, he left Oxford University and moved to London University. Two years later, he moved to the position of deputy director

of research at Cambridge University.

In 1967, he published his first book – “Using non-standard thinking,” which is considered one of his best works, since in it he offers the concept of “non-standard thinking.” In 1968, de Bono presents the book “The Birth of a New Idea”, as well as a publication entitled “The Five-Day Course of Thinking”. In 1969, a book was published with the title “The principle of the mind”, which refers to the persistence of the prototype of thinking. A little later, there was another book of his authorship – “Non-standard thinking: creativity step by step.”

1971 was very productive for Edward de Bono – he created a good foundation for future work, based on his ideology, wrote the books “Technology Today”, “Practical Thinking” and “Non-standard thinking for management.”

From 1972 to 1976, he wrote many publications, including “Children solve problems”, “By: the device for successful thinking,” “Learning to think,” and

“Great thinkers: the thirty minds that shaped our civilization.” At the same time he founded the “Foundation for Cognitive Research.”

In the 1980s he also wrote such books as “Atlas of Managerial Thinking”, “De Bono Thinking Course”, “Tactics: The Art and Science of Success”, as well as the well-known book “Six Hats of Thinking”. The book “Six Hats of Thinking” dealt with different colors of hats that reflected the process of thinking in the human brain. This book has become a hit in the UK. And according to his book “The course de Bono on thinking” was shot a series, which was shown by the BBC television channel.

In 1990, de Bono was invited to preside at a meeting of Nobel laureates all over the world, which was held in Korea.

From 2004 to 2009, he published many of his works, including: “How to have a beautiful mind,” “Six important medals,” “How to think creatively,” “Six bodies of thinking about information” and “Think before it’s too late.”

Basic work

He invented and proposed the idea of ​​”non-standard thinking” in 1967. This approach allows people to solve problems through the use of a creative, albeit secondary, approach. Now this methodology is used in many companies around the world, because it has proved its effectiveness in problems with finding and finding a problem, solving the problem and stimulating motivation. That’s why de Bono is known as the father of “non-standard thinking”.

In 1985 he wrote the book “Six Hats of Thinking”. This book is considered one of the most significant of his works, since in it the reader is introduced to effective methods of group discussion and individual thinking. Awards and achievements

In 1992, he was the first person to receive the European Kapirsky Prize for outstanding achievements.

In 1994 he was awarded the Prize of the First Investigator in the field of Mind at the International Conference on Mind, held in MIT.

In January 1995, Dr. de Bono was awarded the President of Malta by the National Order of Merit.

In 2005, he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Economics.

Personal life and heritage

In 1971, he married Josephine Hall-White. The couple had two sons.

In 1996, the European Association of Creativity polled its members across Europe, trying to find out who influenced them most. The name of Dr. de Bono was mentioned more often than other names.
