In 1995 the Moscow State Academy of Press solemnly celebrated its 65th anniversary. Numerous pupils of the Academy – well-deserved journalists, bookbinders, typesetters, the whole army of Moscow printers is filled with pride for the accomplishments of these years.

It was interesting to recall the prehistory of the faculty of artistic and technical design of printed products. He became the successor of the notorious VHUTEMAS, which was created in 1920 by a special resolution signed by Lenin. The veterans of VHUTEMAS only sighed: “How does the time fly, but it seems that it was quite recently.” They remembered how at the Yaroslavl station they painted in two or three days the whole passenger train of the agitation train from top to bottom with a freakish decorative painting, in which the abstracted symbols – the hydra of the counter-revolution and the fist-spiders – prevailed. The capitalists were there in dress coats and with bags of gold. The people

looked at their strong, bearable, funny picture poses and was surprised.

Greatly increased the glory of VHUTEMAS and the painting of the Okhotny Ryad, where there were still numerous trays, kiosks, so skillfully described by Gilyarovsky in the book “Moscow and Muscovites”.

Polygraph artists actively participated in the political life of the country in the 1920s, went with demonstrations to Red Square, crowded at the simple plinth tribune.

Once in Pravda an ultimatum was published of Lord Curzon, a representative of the British Conservatives, who were then called “die-hard”. In this connection, a protest demonstration was held in Red Square.

The students went to the slaughter house at Kuntsevo that evening and asked to rent a hefty black bull. At night, “clearance” was made for him: a black cardboard cylinder, a starched shirt-front shirt and a snow-white tie made of paper, and white “cuffs” to his feet. A huge monocle with a ribbon was attached to one eye, and on the black sides, on the “coat”, the inscriptions were made: “Hard-hearted.”

In this form, ahead of the column of demonstrators, the bull was Curzon and marched along Red Square about fifty meters from the platform.
