The writing of the problem of charity and compassion
I believe that the most important problem, touched upon by A. Greene in the story, is the problem of charity and compassion. In the modern world, it is very relevant.
The author of the text was disappointed by the deed of a wounded sailor, who was injured by a knife in the back, which the comrade had inflicted. A. Greene wrote: “It was borne by the ocean-homeland of great souls”. But, nevertheless, the soul of this man was not at all great.
The sailor acted according to the legal law, and not according to the “human” law. The author did not expect such a choice from a man who looked so courageous and seemed to him so generous. Green hoped that the sailor would forgive the offender, imbued with compassion for his family. “It seemed to me that something was taken from me,” the author wrote. I think it was a belief in human charity.
I completely agree with the opinion of the author of this text. Mercy is indeed a very important component
In the dictionary of SI Ozhegov it is written: “Mercy is a willingness to help someone or forgive someone from compassion, philanthropy.” The injured sailor from the story of A. Greene “By Law” did not show mercy. After reading the text, I still have some feeling of misunderstanding of this character.
In the sixth grade we read the story of V. Rasputin “Lessons of the French”. It describes the heavy share of a boy who left his home in order to learn. But the boy was poor, and he lacked money even for food. And then the teacher of French began to invite the boy to his home for additional lessons. And after the lessons they played in “zameryashki” for money. Making sure that her proud student does not take the money in the open, the teacher came up with this cunning. During the game, the teacher succumbed, and the “winner” took the winnings. Once the headmaster learned about these games for money.
Charity is always a sacrifice for the benefit of another person. And this must be learned. In our time, many have forgotten about compassion and compassion. But I hope that our generation will be able to return these forgotten feelings, make them the main ones in life. But of course, everyone should start from himself.
