My reflections on the “rules” of D. Carnegie

From the “rules” I have read by D. Carnegie, I would like to dwell on two.

“Sincerely interested in other people.” How important this advice is! Especially in our time, when people have become much more withdrawn than before. When your own career becomes the highest. When the money came in first place. But it’s so easy to establish relationships with other people! You just need to think more about them, and not just yourself. Moreover, your living participation in other people’s problems and sorrows will return to you a hundredfold when you need someone’s participation. And such participation will be needed, unfortunately, for any of us. Then we will remember Carnegie’s advice, and remember the Russian proverb: “Do not have a hundred rubles, but have a hundred friends.”

“Talk about what interests your interlocutor.” I tried to follow this advice and noticed that he was fair. It really works! My closest friend, when I suddenly started talking about his favorite book, was so pleasantly surprised that he gave me an extra copy of this rather expensive book!
