The role of journalism in modern society

Every day is always filled with events, events, news. We can not even imagine a day to not include the news on TV, listen to the radio, standing in traffic jam on the way to work, take a look at the newspaper headlines over a cup of strong coffee for breakfast or do not get on the Internet. It’s terrible to imagine how confused we would all be if in a moment this all disappeared: magazines and newspapers from the counters, television, radio, and the window of our Internet browser became a blank canvas. Our life would be empty. Getting the information we needed would be very difficult, news from the other end of our city, not to mention even other continents, would reach us after a long time and then warped like gossip in a big village. If we approach any passer in the street and ask him, what role of the journalist in our modern world, each of us will find at once what to answer. What would you say?
The English writer Dame Rebecca West wrote: “A journalist is a person

who has the gift to fill the void daily.” A journalist is not only a person collecting information and bringing it to society, but also a contemplative, thinker, creator, philosopher. This person is able to isolate the essence from what he has seen, heard, recognized, a person who knows how to correctly communicate his thought and idea, not only to the human brain through the word, but also to his soul. I would even say that a journalist is a guiding light for people around the world of events, information, news, because everything that happens in our world every day does not pass without the participation of the media.
In our century of smart technologies, innovations, wifi, tablets, smartphones, laptops, social networks and everything else, each of us becomes a little journalist. We share news, advice, photos, thoughts with each other. If one of us has witnessed an incident, we always have the opportunity to inform the world about it.
The development of modern journalism allows absolutely everyone to be informed in all spheres of our life: culture, fashion, tourism, politics, science, music, etc.,
etc. Journalism is one of the oldest professions, which will always be necessary. A man without news and information, like without air, and the task of a modern journalist, to provide people with this necessary food, because, in other words, a journalist is a cook in the kitchen of information. And without the skillful works of modern journalists who masterfully serve us what we want exactly in the form in which we want, we would have to eat, that’s horrible, without getting any pleasure from the process.
