Mowgli the human cub
Mowgli, a human cub, is brought up by the Indian she-wolf Raksha and her pack, led by the leader Akella, since he was brought to them as a baby Bagheera, a black panther. Bagheera trains Mowgli to live according to the law of the pack, but Mowgli faces certain problems and lags behind his wolf brothers and sisters. Bagheera berates him for using human tricks and tools.
During the drought season, all the animals in the jungle gather on the Rock of Peace to drink that water that still flows. This is part of the conditions of a water truce, “the law of the jungle.” so as not to devour each other. A peaceful gathering is broken when a formidable Bengal tiger Sherhan appears. He discovers the smell of Mowgli among the crowd and threatens to kill him, since man does not belong in the jungle. He shows scars on his face as evidence of a cruel and destructive person and warns that when the water Truce ends, he will come to the boy and that the wolves will have to decide how
On the way, Sherhan attacks them from an ambush, wounding Bagheera. Mowgli manages to escape with the help of a herd of buffaloes. Mowgli, traveling alone now, meets Kaa. a huge Indian pythonie who beckons him with promises of security and claiming that she knows where Mowgli came from. Under hypnosis Kaa Mowgli gets a vision of his father, killed by Sherhan, and himself, the baby found by Bagheera. Kaa’s vision also warns about the destructive power of the “red flower”, a tool that “brings warmth and light and destroys everything it touches.” Having successfully captured Mowgli in the rings, Kaa tries to swallow Mowgli, but he is rescued by Balu, a bear. In exchange for saving Mowgli’s life, Balu asks Mowgli to bring him honey, which is on top of the rock, and
Meanwhile, in the jungle, Sherkhan visits a wolf pack and is looking for a “baby man”. He kills Akella, dropping him off the cliff, when he is told that Mowgli left the pack. He demands that the boy be transferred to him, and, confident that Mowgli will return again, appoint a new leader of the pack.
When Bagheera finds Mowgli, she discovers that Mowgli decided to live with Baloo. Although there is tension, they all agree to sleep until the next morning. At night, Mowgli hears a cry for help, and discovers that the elephant is stuck in a deep pit. Using his tricks, he makes a rope system to save an elephant. There is a liking between Mowgli and elephants.
Following Bagheera’s instructions, Balu reluctantly quarrels with Mowgli and lies to him that he never considered him a friend, hoping that Mowgli could change his mind about staying with him. But Mowgli is suddenly kidnapped by a group of monkeys who drag him to an ancient destroyed temple and show him to King Louis, Orangutan of Borneo, who is trying to get Mowgli to open the secret of a dangerous and deadly “red flower”. Bagheera and Balu arrive just in time to distract the attention of the monkeys and distract themselves, while Mowgli flies to safety. King Louis chases Mowgli through the temple, destroying him and causing a fall on himself from above, but before he dies he has to inform Mowgli about the death of Akella.
Furious with the fact that Bagheera and Balu kept him in the dark about Akella’s death, Mowgli decides to return to the jungle and confront Sher Khan in order to avenge the death of his leader and end his tyranny. But first Mowgli goes to the village where people live and for the first time he sees his own people from afar. Mowgli is very surprised. He steals one of the burning torches and heads back to the jungle, and accidentally starts a fire. Bagheera and Baloo follow him.
When the news that a man with a “red flower” is heading into the jungle, reaches all the inhabitants of the jungle, all animals gather on the Rock of Peace. Mowgli stands in front of Sher Khan, but sees how all the animals of the jungle retreat in fear at the sight of the fire that he holds. He throws his torch into the water, allowing Sherhan to attack him. Bagheera, Balu and the wolf pack manage to restrain it in such a way that Mowgli gets enough time to set a trap in the burning jungle. He lures Sher Khan to a rotting tree with conversations, and stepping on him, Sherhan falls to death in a pit of fire. Elephants later help put out the fire.
