Funny case: how I worked as a postman
Friends, I want to tell you an amusing incident from my youth. This story occurred in the 70 years, when I moved to the 8th grade of secondary school in the city of Taganrog.
Funny event from life
There was a long-awaited summer vacation. Happy time! Do what you want: rest, sunbathe, read books. But many teenagers were arranged for temporary work to earn money.
In the next entrance of our house Aunt Valya Polehina lived, who worked as a postman in the liaison office No. 2 along Svobody Street.
It so happened that one of the sites remained temporarily without a postman, and Aunt Valya invited me and my friend Lyuba Belova to work on this site together, since at that time the postman’s bag was heavy for one teenager. We gladly agreed and got a job.
Our duties included: to come to work by 8.00, for subscribers to compose newspapers, magazines, to spread out letters, postcards to addresses and to spread mail on a site including certain streets and
The first day of my work I remembered for life.
In the morning Lyuba came to me to go to work together. Decided to have tea, worked TV.
And suddenly – the next series of our favorite movie “Four Tankmen and a Dog”! How to skip. We’ll see the movie and go to work, the mail will not go anywhere! On the clock 9.00. The eighth episode of the film is over, the ninth began. “Well, okay, another hour…” – decided “postmen”.
At 10 o’clock my aunt Valya came running with the question, why are not we at work? We explained that nothing terrible would happen if people received their newspapers and letters two hours later. And Aunt Valya: “People are used to receiving mail on time, they are waiting for the newspaper, not everyone has a TV, they are waiting for letters from their sons from the army, and old men and lovers always wait for the postman!”
Oh, and I’m ashamed, my friends, to remember this. We earned from Anyone for a month for 40 rubles. We liked the work.
The following year, we spent all vacations in another place – at the Taganrog Wine Factory in a brigade of five high school students. They washed apples, poured them into a large container and pressed under an automatic press. Drank apple juice. It was fun!
