Do I have to go in for sports?

New in our class. Her name is Dasha. As soon as she appeared in the classroom, the boys began to try to please her. I had few chances: I’m not very tall, almost on my head below Dasha, and in the gym class I’m almost the last in the rank. I feel insecure on gymnastic shells, on the treadmill. And when the guys play football, I mostly give them balls. I prefer mathematics to physical education classes. But there was a case that radically changed my attitude not only to the lessons of physical education, but also to sports in general.

One day the new girl invited her classmates to her birthday, including me. After the festive dinner everyone went out into the yard. The girls sat down on a bench, and the guys decided to show their dexterity and dexterity. It was not difficult to do this: in the courtyard of the house where Dasha lived, there was a bar, bars and a walkway. When the turn came to me, and I had to show what I can do on gymnastics, I refused. One of the guys commented: “He is the first net in the physical education classes!” Everyone laughed, and Dasha too. I felt that I was about to cry.

But the next day I got up long before my usual time. He put on a tracksuit, sneakers and ran to the school playground. It’s not far from our house. To myself, I said: “I’ll start to train regularly, and not to surprise the guys, I just want to feel confident and to be on top in any circumstances.”
