Biography of Leonid Andreev
Leonid Nikolaevich Andreev is a writer, founder of expressionism.
Leonid was born on August 9, 1871 in the city of Orel. Already in his childhood Leonid Andreev’s biography showed interest in literature. He received his first education in the classical grammar school of his native city, where he studied from 1882 to 1891. The next stage of education was the admission to St. Petersburg University, where Leonid studied law.
His family has always been well-off. But when his father passed away, the biography of Leonid Nikolaevich Andreev came a difficult period. There was not enough money, so sometimes Leonid had to starve. At that time Andreev wrote his first stories, but they were not accepted in the editorial office. Leonid left the university, and eventually moved to Moscow University for the same specialization. To support his family he had to work hard, change several places.
After graduation from the university in 1897, he took up the profession of advocacy. If we consider the short biography of Leonid Andreev, then at about the same time, the first journalistic work in the Moscow Herald. Then in 1898 his story was first published, thanks to which Andreev became acquainted with M. Gorky. Got great popularity after the story “Lived-Were,” printed in 1901. The next year, Andreev’s works are published.
When the First Russian Revolution began, Andreev actively participated in public life. I went to prison, but was soon released on bail. And in November 1905 he left the country. First he went to Germany, then to Italy, Finland. The First World War in the biography of writer Leonid Andreev left an imprint on his life and work. The writer died on September 12, 1919.
