The world significance of the Russian language
The significance of the Russian language is very important, it is explained by the fact that it acts in different conditions and as the native language of the Russian people, both as the state language of the Russian Federation and as one of the world languages of communication in the near and far abroad. World languages are some of the most common languages used by representatives of different peoples outside the territories inhabited by people for whom they were originally native. World languages cover international spheres – diplomacy, world trade, tourism. They communicate with scientists of countries, they are studied as foreign languages, i. e., as an obligatory subject in universities and schools of most countries of the world. These languages are the working languages of the United Nations.
The United Nations officially recognizes seven languages as world languages: English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Hindi.
Russian Language has become a universally recognized world language since the middle of the 20th century. Its world significance is due to the fact that it is one of the richest languages in the world on which the greatest fiction is created. Russian is one of the Indo-European languages, related to many Slavic languages.
Many words of the Russian language have entered into many languages of the peoples of the world without translation. These borrowings from the Russian language have been observed for a long time, as early as the 16th and 17th centuries, the Europeans learned Russian through the Russian language: the Kremlin, the tsar, the boyar, the Cossack, the caftan, the hut, the balalaika, the kopek, the samovar, the sarafan, the ditty and many others. As evidence of the attention of political life in Russia to other countries in the languages of the world’s peoples, words like: perestroika, glasnost, communism.
The richness of the Russian language and the literature created on it evokes interest in this language throughout the world. it is studied not only by schoolchildren, students, but also adults with the purpose of assisting in the teaching of the Russian language. In Paris in 1967. was established MAPRYAL – International Association of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature. MAPRYAL publishes textbooks for foreign teachers of the Russian language and conducts international olympiads among schoolchildren.
