The composition “Punctuation marks”


It combines a huge variety of epithets and synonyms with dynamics and brightness. It also has a wide range of different shades of emotion and melody, which adds to the language of expressive individuality. However, do not forget about the important role that in the language constructs lies on punctuation. They are called to place semantic accents in the text.

Each such sign is of great importance. It is unlikely that you will be able to express any thoughts and feelings without their help. Putting a point at the end of the sentence, we sum up what was said. And how many different ways to use the usual comma! It helps to identify the most significant words in the sentence, to separate from each other the enumerated homogeneous objects and actions. With the help of this element, we single out the introductory words or constructions, appeals. And this, in turn, adds phrases to the volume.

Also we are helped by a colon – this is a very useful punctuation mark, standing, usually, before any enumeration. A semicolon, on the contrary, serves as a logical division of the list. If we want to insert a direct speech into the text, we must use quotation marks. They also distinguish names, quotations or words in a figurative sense.

Obviously, we can not do without interrogative and exclamation marks. After all, they give the sentence the necessary intonation. And the ellipsis, put at the end of the sentence, leaves the reader with a feeling of understatement and room for imagination.

Any of the punctuation marks appeared in our language is not accidental. All of them are necessary for filling our speech with meaning and are important and useful tools for enriching and improving the language.
