Small spool but precious

Surprisingly original, Russian riches are rich in proverbs and sayings. It is difficult to find another country where definitions and concepts are precisely given in allegorical form. The people create such masterpieces, which are passed from mouth to mouth, moreover they are used in literature by classics. So it happened with the proverb: “Small spool, yes dear.”

If you clearly follow the wording, then the statement contains a fairly simple idea: a small object in size can be more important and valuable than a large trifle. After all, in this expression, the spool means a small weight, with which once in Russia precious metals were weighed. And life has proved that without a tiny spool it’s impossible to do without, and huge weights that are in abundance on the counter. But this is only a direct interpretation of the statement.

Another, allegorical sense of the proverb concerns the man himself. Sometimes, very young talent has such mental abilities that

he will shut up the belt of a gray-haired old man. About this and they say: “Small spool, yes dear.” Or, literally, a short, fragile man with the power of his conviction, capable of triumphing over a two-meter-long child, is also the hero of our proverb.

Thus, it can be said that the task of this dictum is to emphasize that it is not in physical strength or large dimensions that the importance of an object or living being lies, but in its value, significance for others.

The proverb does not lose its relevance even today. First of all, it concerns the relationship between eternally hurried adults and their growing up children. The mad speeds that took possession of man and captured in an endless cycle, kill spiritual qualities, harden.

How seldom today a person is ready to give himself up to serve his neighbor, each row for himself, trying to enrich himself in any way. And only a small child, pure in heart and soul, openly loves his loved ones, without demanding anything in return. And this spool, his unselfish love is dearer than all business ties, more valuable than any partnership.

It is a pity that not all adults understand this, killing with their indifference, the race for super-profits, those sprouts of good that are in every child. Stop, adults! Look around and realize that the little person next to you is a spool, more expensive than that!
