I want to give a review of the book by Anatoly Rybakov Children of Arbat, which is my favorite work of modern Russian literature. It was written in dark times, and arrived in time for the bright. of JV Stalin. And this gives A. Rybakov in my eyes a full respect. Obviously, one of the main tasks of the novel Children of Arbat is to show how the cult of Stalin was asserted. I consider the success of the novel that the task itself was set by the writer correctly, for it was precisely from 1934, when the action of the Children of Arbat unfolds, that this cult began to turn into something grandiose and exceptional. Stalin in the novel is a historical figure who was able to subjugate his will to millions of people, to determine the path of development of a huge country. The writer sought to comprehend the seemingly contradictory logic of the tyrant’s actions. Here, for example, the episode with the dentist is one of the most living in Stalin’s scenes. An excellent specialist shows professional pride, they decided to make Stalin a plate prosthesis, despite the fact that the high patient insists on clogel. Stalin agrees to try a new prosthesis, to vilify one day only, as the doctor asks, and admits that the doctor is right. After reading the novel Children of Arbat, I clearly and fully understood why and how the tragic events occurred in the thirties, better realized that Stalin himself led and directed arbitrariness, the destruction of many innocent people. I understood deeper what motives they were led, as it was scary. He made me think. Children of the Arbat, I believe everyone should read. After all, this book does not simply open our eyes to the painful reality of our recent history; it does not allow us to divert them away from this reality any more; Bears the soul, telling the truth about the Stalin era. People need to know the true state of affairs in those thirties. And sometimes you hear cues: Here Stalin would be now…, But with Stalin… And they want to be exiled, and even shot. But Stalin is one of two main characters. Rybakov wrote a novel about Stalin and Sasha Pankratov, because in the confrontation of these two personalities he saw the main conflict of time.

Young people who grew up in the Moscow Arbat alleys and entered the age of responsibility by the mid-thirties, are brought up on the same idea with what joyful hope they enter the world. The warmth, the youth is sincerely shown: Sasha Pankratov and his entourage. Pankratov is one of the main nonhistoric heroes of the novel, a truly good and honest man who never acts against his conscience, he is always moved by a sense of justice. Sasha is a man with a pronounced social temperament. By itself, such a temperament can take and dangerous forms. Sharok remembers how when he was admitted to the Komsomol, Sasha refused to vote for him, shortly dropping: I do not believe. It is easy to imagine how such people in the atmosphere of the thirties cast their own do not believe not only such as Sharok. But Sasha has one quality that makes him vulnerable. Morality for him is human value, which stands above all else. He can not, for example, perjure against the deputy director of the Krivoruchko Institute. He has the opportunity to choose: Sasha can betray Krivoruchko, telling him about what is required, and thereby save his fate. But he does not want to cunning, maneuver, pretend, hide thoughts and feelings. Sasha is strong in spirit, a highly moral person, a truly Russian intellectual.
