Rajputs

Rajputs were the descendants of nomadic tribal leaders from Central Asia. They lived mainly in Rajputana. Many of the princes of India also took their place. These Indian knights neglected the work of farmers, artisans and traders and engaged exclusively in hunting and military affairs, which they learned almost from their diapers. They did not encase themselves in steel armor, but wore a light chain mail. Firearms were considered a weapon of cowards, they fought with a sword, a spear, a dagger. Fought with the enemy alone, and stood to death.

Rajputs sharply opposed themselves to other classes and castes. They had their own rules of honor, which were valued more than life. Honor demanded from the Rajput of devotion to the leader, courage, generosity, morality. Rajputs believed that “on the body of a coward, even the vultures do not sit down.”

The model of courage was also their wives. The wives of that Rajput, who fled from the battlefield, considered themselves widows, and the wives of the one who died in the unequal battle, committed suicide. It is interesting that the Rajputs were enlightened and cultured unlike most Western European knights.
