Singer with French-Canadian roots Celine Dion was the top of the music ratings in the 90’s. The popularity of the singer does not decrease, and the singer herself is on the second place in the world in terms of the amount of money earned by the musician.

Canadian star

Celine Marie Claudette Dion was born on March 30, 1968 in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada.
She was the youngest of 14 children of Ademar and Theresa Dion. Her family was friendly. Being also a musical family, her parents founded the music group “Dion’s family” and traveled around Canada when Celine was still a baby. Later, the family opened a bar with a pianist, in which Selin performed, pleasing the visitors.

At the age of 12, Celine recorded her first song written and performed with her mother. They sent a cassette with a recording to the manager and producer Rene Angelila, who was engaged in the career of the popular French singer Ginett Reno. After listening to the

recording, Renee invited Celine for personal listening and after listening to him, he immediately signed a contract with her, with the condition that he would pursue her career. He laid his house to sponsor her first album with the title “La Voix du bon Dieu”.

By the age of 18, Dion recorded nine albums in French and received many awards “Felix” and “Juneau”. In 1988, she won the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin, Ireland, which was broadcast live in Europe, the Middle East, Australia and Japan. Having reached a new level of recognition, Celine began to look towards the US and the American world of stars.

Dion recorded her first English-language album entitled “Unison” in 1990. Like most of her English-language albums, work on the album took place in close collaboration with composer-arranger and musician David Foster. The album sold more than one million copies worldwide. It included such hits as “Where Does My Heart Beat Now”.

The real success in American pop music Dion achieved in 1992, recording a duet with Pibo Bryson, the main musical

composition for the cartoon “Beauty and the Beast.” The song took ninth place in the “Hot Hundred” magazine “Billboard”, and also brought Dion “Grammy” and “Oscar”. The song was included in her second English-language album entitled “Celine Dion”. The album became “gold” in the US, and around the world sold a circulation of twelve million copies. The undeniable success of her self-titled album, songs from which took fourth place in the “Hot Hundred”, as well as first place in the list of “Contemporary Music for Adults”, allowed her to go on her first widely-publicized tour of the United States.

Achieving success in the US

Celine Dion wisely used a new wave of glory and released a well-sold album “The Color of My Love” in 1993. The album included strong romantic ballads, thanks to which Dion became famous – “When I Fall in Love” and “The Power of Love”, the first of her songs, which won first place in the “Hot Hundred.”

In 1994, Dione successfully combined her personal and professional life when she married Angela, although he was 26 years older. Angel divorced his second wife in the 80’s, and immediately after that he and Dion began a romantic relationship. They announced their engagement in 1991, and married on a carefully thought-out ceremony at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Montreal, celebrated across Canada.

Celine Dion’s international success was further strengthened after her performance at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, where she sang the song “The Power of the Dream.” In the same year her album received the “Grammy” award as the album of the year and the best pop album. It included the absolute hit “Because You Loved Me” – a song that was a soundtrack in Robert Redford’s film “Close to the Heart”, released in 1996. In 1997, together with the release of the film “Titanic”, in which Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet starred, Celine Dion became even more popular, because her song sounded in the film the main composition. The film received a record number of awards, “Oscar” – eleven – including the best song. This song filled all the radio stations in the world.

The song “My Heart Will Go On”, which was presented on the disc of the soundtrack for the film and in Dion’s own album with the title “Let’s Talk About Love”, became her third song won first place in the “Hot Hundred” and sold over 50 millions of copies. The album also included songs performed with musicians such as Barbra Streisand, Luciano Pavarotti, the band “Bi Jiz” and Brian Adams.

Canadian diva

In April 1998, Celine Dion received the “National Order of Quebec” – the highest award of the province. Later that year, she performed at the famous Divas Live TV show on VH-1, along with stars such as Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Gloria Estefan and Shania Twain.

In 1998, Celine took part in the tour, recording two albums simultaneously – “S’il Suffisait d’Aimer” and the album “These Are Special Times”. In late 1998, Dion won six awards at the “Billboard Music Awards”, including the singer of the year awards and the album of the year for “Let’s Talk About Love”.

In the summer of 1998, Celine Dion went on a tour of 14 countries, which in honor of the new millennium ended on December 31, 1999 with a gala concert in Montreal. Her blowing with rhythm and blues performer Ar Kelly for the fourth time brought her first place in the ranking for the song “I’m Your Angel”.

In early 2000, Celine Dion announced that she takes a little creative leave in order to spend more time with her family. Dion and Angelil tried to give birth to a child for many years, and eventually decided to use extracorporeal fertilization to become pregnant. In May 2000, Dion suffered two minor surgeries in the New York City reproductive medicine clinic to increase her chances of conception.

Operations were successful and on January 25, 2001, Celine Dion gave birth to her first son, whom her parents named René-Charles. In her interviews, she said that the clinic kept another fertilized egg, in order to eventually give birth to their child’s brother or sister. On October 23, 2010, at the age of 42, Dion gave birth to twin brothers.

Angel, who was diagnosed with skin cancer in 1999, is now in remission.

World glory

After a two-year break, Celine Dion returned in March 2002 with the song “A New Day Has Come”, which took the top lines of charts in more than 17 countries around the world. A year later, she took part in a widely publicized speech that took place on the stage of the famous hotel and casino in Las Vegas – “Caesars Palace”. Almost simultaneously, Dion presents his album “One Heart”, which does not get the popularity of its predecessor. In 2003 she returned to recording albums in French, releasing the album “1 Fille & 4 Types”.

Together with photographer Anna Geddes, Dion creates the album “Miracle: A Celebration of New”, which turns out to be a hit. In 2007, Dion presents two albums: “Taking Chances”, which almost reaches the top of the ratings and “D’Elles” – his new album in French.

And although her presence on the tops of the ratings was not so frequent, Celine Dion still remained a popular artist. In June 2009 Forbes magazine wrote that the singer earned about 100 million US dollars in 2008. This information made her the second in the world in terms of the amount of money earned, after the Madonna.

In August 2014, Dion canceled all of her shows until March 22, 2015, to pay more attention to her 72-year-old husband, who in December 2013 was removed from the cancer tumor, as well as to his children. “I want to devote every gram of my strength and energy to the recovery of my husband, and for this it is important for me to give this time to him and our children,” Dion said in her statement on the cancellation of concerts.

According to the press, the singer also has health problems. It is reported that she has an inflammation of the throat muscles, which prevented her from performing at a concert in Las Vegas since July 29, 2014. Dion apologized to her fans for letting them down and thanking them for their support during her forced vacation.
