Painting by Dubovsky “Silenced”
In his painting “Silenced” NN Dubovskoy depicts the seascape. The idea of the artist was originally to show the power of the elements and the feeling of their own insignificance in front of it. In the work, thunderclouds occupying almost the entire upper part are spread out in a dense horizon. They are reflected in the blackened water. In the distance, you can see the dark strip of the shore, which seems to be squeezed between the sky and water. The earth, as if lost its materiality, but the sea is just a mirror for the sky. Material only remain hanging clouds, which are illuminated by the sun.
If you look closely, on a smooth, almost glossy surface of water, you can see a tiny boat that moves to the shore. But the land is still far away, which can not but inspire the owner of this boat. It seems that this little ship is so helpless before the approaching thunderstorm that it is about to get lost somewhere in the sea waves.
Looking at the terrible rain clouds, it seems that something terrible will happen now, that they will descend even lower, and absorb all surrounding space: a small boat, shore, sea… They are already ready to just about burst out angrily downpour. On the horizon you can see the gray-brown sky, which has become so from gradually hiding behind the clouds, the sun’s rays.
In general, we can say that the author succeeded in his idea. After all, looking at the picture, already captures the spirit of how majestic and beautiful nature.
