Painting by Aivazovsky “The Storm on the Black Sea”

Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky is famous for his paintings, in which he depicts the natural elements in all greatness. Most of all I was impressed by his canvas “The Storm on the Black Sea”. This picture draws my eye to me and causes in my soul confusion and horror. She fascinates me, makes me peer and immediately scared to look away, then again to look and feel the admiration for the enormous strength of the natural elements.

This picture shows a terrible sea storm, which throws from side to side a tiny boat. Sailors stubbornly lean on the oars to get the ship out of the hurricane and prevent it from rolling over. On the one hand, their work seems in vain, but on the other – I admire the courage of these people who are fighting not just with the raging elements, but with death that awaits them if the ship turns over. It seems to me that their strength is already running out, because the storm has been going on for a long time, but the desire to survive does not allow them to lay down their hands!

Adds to the tragedy of this picture the gloomy gray, blue, and black colors in which it is painted. These are the colors of the sky and the sea, which merged into a single hurricane, rushing to the ship. And the white gulls are already spinning over the ship. Maybe they also want to fly away as soon as possible from the raging elements, or can they wait until the ship turns over to enjoy the prey?

And only somewhere far away, behind all this natural horror, are the outlines of the earth, the city, shelter for tired wanderers. It is still so far away, but I look at the picture and start to believe that the sailors will surely get to the ground and to their relatives. After all, they have something to live for!

This picture will remain in my memory for a long time, because it shows that trouble can come at any moment, but you can not meet it with folded hands, but you need to fight it, fight for your happiness and peace.
