Painting by AA Rylov “A house with a red roof”

A. Rylov – a famous artist of the late XIX – early XX century, the author of paintings “Autumn Landscape”, “Green Noise”, “Lenin in Razliv”, etc. From the earliest years, the artist was associated with native nature.

The painting “A house with a red roof” was written in 1933 in the Moscow region. One summer morning on a suburban train he went to the station Kryukovo to old acquaintances. There, a house with a red roof, surrounded by apple trees and old birches, was buried in greenery on the bank of a pond with white flowers of water lilies. This pond was a whole kingdom with a numerous and diverse population: green frogs basked in the sun, black snails basked and caressed each other, leeches by the shore buried themselves in mud. Over the water itself, light dragonflies fluttered, rustling wings. In front of the house is a meadow. They grazed goats, a big white cock with chickens walked, a peasant mowing grass.

The artist with pleasure wrote etudes, without leaving with paints and an easel beyond the cottage. He found different compositions: one and the same place, depending on the time of the day, lighting and the angle of view was represented in different ways. As a result, a wonderful painting was born: “A house with a red roof”. On it is an unpretentious Central Russian landscape, from which it breathes calmness, tenderness and warmth.
