Methodology “Parent’s composition”

The modified method “Parent’s composition” in the form of unfinished sentences makes it possible to reveal the features of the child’s image through the eyes of the parent, the features of the child’s adoption by the parent. With the help of the technique “Parent’s essay” it is possible to study many aspects of the parent-child relationship, the perception and experience of the parent’s interaction with the child. The methodology allows you to get a description of the parent’s vision of problems and difficulties in the development of the child, identify areas of conflict and community in the parental-child interaction, determine the characteristics of the type of family upbringing, and collect anamnestic information that reflects the child’s development history. In addition, the “Parent’s composition”, like any projective methodology, allows us to identify the personal characteristics of the parent himself.

The method “Parent’s composition” consists of thirty incomplete sentences. The proposals are divided into eleven scales. For each scale, there are several unfinished proposals.

The parent is presented with a form with incomplete sentences. It is desirable that on the page of the form there are no more than 10-15 pending proposals with sufficient free space for their completion. The psychologist proposes to complete the sentence most suitable for the parent phrase or several phrases. The parent can write everything he wants, he considers important and necessary. The psychologist again repeats the instructions to the parent’s questions about the expected content and scope of the text, indicating the author’s complete freedom in determining these moments. The time of writing the essay is not limited. The writing can be written both at home and during a psychological examination.
