How to behave in the temple

From time immemorial people built special rooms – churches – to perform religious rituals. The appearance of such structures differs significantly from other structures. So, the Orthodox church is crowned by a sphere – a dome symbolizing the sky. On the dome is a head with a cross above it. Above the entrance to the temple, a belfry is often built, that is, a tower on which bells hang. The bells convoke believers to pray and inform about the most important moments of worship.

At the entrance to the temple outside the porch is arranged. In the middle the temple is divided into three parts: 1) the porch, 2) the actual temple and 3) the altar, where the priests serve and where the main place in the temple is located – the holy altar. The altar is separated from the middle part of the temple by an iconostasis, which consists of several rows of icons and has three gates; the middle gates are called royal. Through the royal doors no one is allowed to pass, except for the clergymen.

Reading and singing of prayers in the temple in the established order, led by a clergyman, is called Divine Service.
