Excursion to the Historical Museum
Recently we all class visited the Historical Museum. This two-story building of an ancient building is located in the center of the city. At the entrance of it there are a tank and a cannon – as battle symbols of the military prowess of our grandfathers, great-grandfathers, who defended our land from the fascist invaders. It is clear that the tank and the cannon were on the battlefields, but long ago turned into monuments.
After viewing these characters you enter the museum with a mood of special solemnity. Its halls are devoted to the history of the city since its foundation. And it was more than three hundred years ago. Modern history is also represented here. I especially remember the hall dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. My attention was attracted by a stand with combat awards, which were awarded to the soldiers of the Soviet Army who distinguished themselves in battle with the enemy.
Did I think that I would soon be holding one of these orders in my hands
And what happened is this. My great-grandfather, Ivan Ivanovich, who did not live up to our days, was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree. But the reward somewhere was lost and did not find an officer. Recently a call came from the military registration and enlistment office, and my grandfather was asked to come, as they said, on an important matter. When the grandfather returned, he told that his father, and my great-grandfather Ivan Ivanovich, in May 1945 was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree. Only now it is established that the order was never handed to him. Now his family will get it. Grandfather checked the documents and made sure that he had the right to accept Ivan Ivanovich’s award as a relic. They told us to wait. And one evening an officer from the military registration and enlistment office came to our house and solemnly, in the presence of all family members, passed on to the grandfather for storage the order of my great-grandfather and his order book.
