The biography of Milton Berle


Milton Berle is a comedian, was born on July 12, 1908. Berl is best known as “Mr. TV” of the 1950s.

At birth, he was named Mendel Berlinger.

Milton Berle was one of the first superstars of television, the undisputed king of humor. His show-variety show “Texaco Star Theater” went from 1948 to 1956, led by Milton.

Sometimes he went on the air in women’s dresses or other unusual costumes. Due to the wide popularity received the nickname “Mr. TV”, “Uncle Milti.” After the show stopped shooting, Milton appeared hundreds of times in other programs as a guest. He starred in such films: “It’s Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World”, “Who’s Minding the Mint”. In 1984, Berl was elected to the National Hall of Fame television.

Additional information: In 1949, in the biography of Milton Berle was won the Emmy award for “Texaco Star Theater”. He played himself in Woody Allen’s 1984 film “Broadway Danny Rose”. Berl died in 2002 of cancer. On the same day, March 27, another comedian, Dudley Moore, died.
