Painting by Shishkin “In the forest of Countess Mordvinova., Peterhof”

This picture was painted by the great Russian landscape painter Shishkin in 1891. The canvas is dedicated to the amazing beauty of our nature. The main character is the spruce forest, mighty and dense. High firs stretch to the sky and grow so close to each other that when you look deep into the forest, it seems that there is an impenetrable darkness. That is why a sensation of something mysterious, mysterious and terrible is created. Although in fact the forest is absolutely innocuous, just dark trunks and dark green needles cast gloomy associations.

The spruce forest with its powerful roots has enveloped the whole space and does not let anyone into its possessions. For this reason, the entire earth is covered only with green moss and gray lichen. They, like a web, have enveloped not only the earth, but also reached the trunks of trees. Mighty fir trees do not allow the young growth to grow, which breaks through here and there and tries at least to survive among the giants. Small trees look ugly and stale. Despite the apparent darkness of the forest, a clear sky, illuminated by warm sunlight, is seen between the treetops. The sun also falls on a small glade, represented in the foreground.

Forest is not so dense once the artist depicted in him a man. An elderly man with a gray beard, most likely a forester. He stopped, leaned on his cane and thought about something. Perhaps he just likes to walk in silence through this forest and enjoy the sounds of nature. Here, even the air is cleaner and fresh. Spruce forest – a great place for reflection, where you can digress from the usual life and think about serious topics or about some small things. Shishkin wrote such a picture, looking at which literally plunges into the spruce forest and you smell the needles and the moss heated in the sun. I want, as a man in a picture to stand among the mighty great oil and think about something of his own.
