Painting by Roerich “Overseas guests”
Nicholas Roerich differs in a favorable light from other contemporary artists. The colors of his paintings retain their juiciness even on reproductions. This is an indicator of a high level of skill. Pilot-cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, having first appeared in space in the Earth’s orbit, admiringly looked at our planet and enthusiastically said: “I see paints of Roerich”! So accurately Nikolai Konstantinovich was able to reproduce cosmic light radiation on his art canvases.
In the plot Painting “Overseas guests” we see two boats walking along the blue sea, along pastel-green mountain beaches, executed in gently matte soft tones. With shields, helmets and chain mail – the soldiers filling ships are looking overboard, searching for new lands. At the top of the mountain we see a fortress – a settlement. Seagulls fly away from the warlike ships in different directions. These birds, being beautifully created by the creatures of nature, are usually associated in our mind with distant travels, sea adventures with endless expanses of ocean waters.
At the same time, residents of large cities can contemplate these same birds in landfills and garbage dumps. Apparently, the intentions of the travelers depicted in the picture are militant. There is no familiar and so familiar to us a romantic white sail. We see red stripes – a symbol of fury, golden – the most expensive color, promising riches, changes and the transformation of everything familiar. Who knows, maybe these guests bring us good news?
At the base of the ship closest to us, we see a pretty face of a seahorses, these are usually put on the roofs of village houses. The muzzle of this living creature resembles a young innocent dragon, although the crown is on it and fighting.
Pleasant, fabulous, kind picture.
