Perhaps, there is no such person in our country who would not know the main holiday of the second month of the year – the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland.
This holiday is closely connected with the past, even when it was called the Day of the Red Army and Navy, and is still officially celebrated in some CIS countries, such as Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Tajikistan. In Russia, on this day, it is customary to congratulate all members of the stronger sex, beginning from restless boys in kindergarten and ending with gray-haired grandfathers who have passed all the hardships of the war. At school, everyone makes postcards and handicrafts for their dads, brothers and grandfathers, because everyone will be pleased with a sign of attention and memory.
It is noteworthy that the twenty-third of January was originally to be celebrated on the twenty-eighth of January, the day of the anniversary of the creation of the Red Army, and to be a kind of charity event. But due to lengthy
reviews, the final date was postponed to the end of February. However, the holiday was forgotten for a while and only after three years it reached the state level, by the way, this day was considered to be a day off, only fifteen years ago.
Of course, one can not compare the scale of the celebration at the present time and in the last century. At the very beginning of the gifts, only employees, real defenders of the Motherland were honored, they sang laudatory songs, they were praised in verse, pictures were painted and posters were painted. Now, when the value of service and army has receded into the background, congratulate all – from small to large. Wives make delicious dinners, and daughters glue flags on the cardboard, each of them wants to congratulate his defender, and it does not matter whether he served or not.
We congratulate all the boys, because each of them sooner or later will become a defender. We congratulate our fathers, because they stand guard over the peace of their family, because in the event of unforeseen circumstances they are the first to go into battle and fight for their
Motherland. We congratulate our grandfathers, because once they won peace for us, because they held the defense of cities and states. Because many of them gave their health and life for the fact that now we can walk on the ground and be happy. So let’s at least sometimes remember that the Defender of the Fatherland Day is not just a day off and a postcard to the Pope.
You need to remember the history of your country, the history of your family and always keep in your heart that the future of our people depends only on us!
