Biography of Lance Armstrong
Lance Armstrong – cyclist, born September 18, 1971 in the city of Plano, Texas. Lance Armstrong’s biography is best known as the biography of the seven-time winner of the Tour de France.
Lance is the undisputed leader of the Tour de France, because from 1999 to 2005 he won seven times. The athlete managed to overcome the previous record of five wins, which was set by Miguel Indurain, as well as three more bicycle riders. Also Armstrong is famous for his cure for cancer.
Lance was a famous amateur rider. After the Olympics in Barcelona in 1992, I took up professional sports. In 1996, Armstrong discovered that he had cancer. After surgery and heavy chemotherapy, he again returned to the sport in 1997. Two years later, the athlete won the Tour de France for the first time. And then the next five years in a row won the famous race. Having won the Tour de France for the seventh time in 2005, Armstrong retired from the sport. In 2008, he told the Vanity Fair magazine
In addition, Lance Armstrong wrote two works: “It’s Not About the Bike”, “Every Second Counts”.
Additional data: Armstrong’s last season in the race was sponsored by Discovery Channel, while all the previous ones were sponsored by the US Postal Service. The athlete opened the “Lance Armstrong Foundation” for those who survived after cancer. He is the second American to win the Tour de France, the first was Greg Lemond. Five-time winners of the Tour de France are Jacques Anquetil from France, Eddie Merckx from Belgium, Bernard Hino from France, Miguel Indurain from Spain.
Armstrong married Christine Richard in 1998. They have three children: Luke, twins Isabel and Grace. The couple broke up at the beginning of 2003, and in December of the same year divorced. A little later, Armstrong began courting the singer Sheryl Crowe, they started dating in 2005, but in 2006 they split up.
