Gerard Depardieu was born on December 27, 1948 in the French city of Chateauroux. His father worked as a fitter, but during the economic crisis the family lived very poorly. Gerard was the third child, after him in the family Depardieu appeared three more. In the primary school in his biography Gerard Depardieu did not differ high marks. Parents paid little attention to children. As a child, Gerard began to stammer, was unsociable. Later, in his hometown, an American military base was created, so Gerard spent most of his time there.
