Why you need to manage your feelings and actions


Is it worth it to strive for self-improvement, do self-education? After all, surely this is difficult? Yes, it’s worth it. Open the biography of any famous person – and you will see that each of them has become what he has become, largely due to self-education. Here, for example, the landmark-rules, which our fellow countryman-the famous teacher Konstantin Ushinsky-planned for himself with the goal of self-education.

Tranquility is uttermost, in extreme cases, – external. Straightness in words and deeds. Weighed actions. Determination. Do not talk about yourself without even a single word. Do not waste time: do what is necessary, not what you want. Every evening honestly report to yourself. Never flaunt either what was, nor what is, nor what will be. Do not show this to anyone.

The ability to create oneself is one of the incomprehensible abilities of a person. Meanwhile, it is important to do this in time, in childhood and adolescence, when the whole

life is ahead. And then the life path will be what you choose for yourself, how you will make it yourself. The most important thing is the desire to achieve its goal and systematic work on its implementation.

For example, in order to develop the habit of controlling ourselves and polishing good manners, we suggest using the following method. Probably everyone has friends whom we respect and appreciate, think about them, try to communicate with them as often as possible. And now imagine that one of them is somewhere nearby and is watching you all the time.

With this person you will not come to mind, for example, after returning from school, throw where you have to wear a jacket, and not hang it in a closet; walk in dirty shoes on the clean floor, because it’s too lazy to take off your shoes and put on slippers; lick your fingers and plate; slam the door of his room or roughly mutter to his mother in response to some of her comments, etc. You will control yourself in everything, and after a while the bread in dirty hands will already seem to you tasteless, and the ill-will of friends to outrage; the mess

in your room is annoying; violation by someone from familiar norms of conduct will give you the right to make a friendly remark, etc.

A little more time will pass – and you will note that good manners have already become your habit and inner need.

Some people complain about their lack of perseverance. Because of this, most of their good intentions are not realized, because there are always circumstances that prevent them from starting to implement the plan. To get rid of this defect, you should first of all stop justifying your indecision or your laziness with unfavorable conditions. It is necessary either to eliminate all obstacles or not to pay attention to them. Planning for something, you need to determine exactly how and for how long the goal should be achieved. If the case is rather complicated, you need to act step by step, first accurately determining what and when to do, and systematically monitor the execution of each stage.

Thus, any deficiency inherent in a person can be eliminated or, at least, “muffled”, and a positive quality is developed. In order to become better, you just need to know yourself and strive for self-improvement. It is also important to remember that in order to achieve the great, one must start small.
