“Yan’s successor to the Tribute” in summary

Tribute, the throne heir of the Yan kingdom, lived hostage in the Qin country. The prince there mocked him, did not let him go home. The insulted Tribute planned to take revenge on the offender. Escaping finally from captivity, he began to call the bravest warriors for a campaign against the ruler Qin. But the plans of his heir, Danya, were opposed by his mentor. He advised not to attack Qin alone, but to draw allies.

“The heart can not wait!” cried the heir. Then the tutor introduced to his lord the famous sage Tian Guan, who was received at court with all possible honor. For three months the wise man considered how to help Danya, and then advised from all the brave men of the kingdom to choose a certain Jing Ke, capable of accomplishing a great cause of revenge. The heir accepted the advice, and the sage asked to keep everything a secret. He, offended by mistrust, committed suicide – swallowed his tongue and died.

When Jing Ke learned what he was called to perform, he developed a special plan: to present to the ruler Qin the head of his enemy and the drawing of the land he had not yet conquered, and then to kill the villain. With this, I went to Qin. His plan was almost successful. When he had already brought a dagger to punish the prince of Ch’ing, and listed all his guilt, he humbly asked permission before his death to listen to the zither. The concubine sang, the prince broke free and rushed away. Jing Ke threw a dagger, but missed. But the prince drew his sword and cut off both hands with the attacker. As they say, he did not take revenge for the ruler, and he did not do a heroic deed.
