The rivers of the basin of the Arctic Ocean
To the basin of the Arctic Ocean are such large rivers in the north of Asia as the Ob, Yenisei and Lena. The most full of them is the Yenisei. The largest river basin in Eurasia is the Ob. Rivers originate in the mountains of Southern Siberia, so in the upper reaches the nature of their current is mountainous. On the plains they flow slowly and so widely spread that often there is no coast visible. Falling into the ocean, the Ob and the Yenisei form long and narrow bays, which are called the lips. At the mouth of the Lena formed a large delta, where between the numerous arms formed more than 1600 islands. Of the European rivers, the Northern Dvina and Pechora, as well as small rivers of the Scandinavian Peninsula, flow into the Arctic Ocean.
Due to the climatic features of the territories, the feeding of rivers in the basin of the Arctic Ocean is mainly snow and soil.
The flood begins in the spring. The northern rivers for a long time freeze in winter. A person uses most of the major rivers of the North for navigation, rafting, fishing. On the mountain sources of the Yenisei. Obie and the rivers of Scandinavia built powerful hydroelectric power stations.
