Summary “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” Rowling

The Dursley family hates everything unusual. But one day strange people in bright clothes begin to walk around the streets and discuss the nephew of the Dursleys – the one-year-old Harry Potter. At night near the house of the Dursleys wizards appear: Professor Dumbledore, director of the school of magic Hogwarts, and a teacher from the same school. From their conversation it becomes clear that the wizarding parents of Harry are killed by the dark magician Volan De Mort, whose name is afraid even to pronounce everything except Dumbledore. For some reason, the villain was not able to kill the boy, Volan-De-Mort could only leave a scar like a lightning bolt on his forehead. The director decides to put Harry at the doorstep of the Dursley house: here the child will be safe.

The boy lives ten years with his aunt and uncle. He is deprived of spiritual warmth, all his attention goes to his peer cousin, a fat, spoiled boy, similar in Harry’s opinion to a pig in a wig. Potter

suffers beatings from his cousin, worn old clothes behind him.

It is cousin’s birthday. Dursley has to take Harry with him to the zoo with his son and his friend. There is something incredible happening: Harry turns to the serpent, and she seems to understand him. Then the glass disappears in the terrarium, and the boa crawls out. Aunt and uncle consider Harry guilty of this and punish.

After a while, Harry receives a lot of identical letters, but his uncle does not let his nephew read them. He takes his family to a hut on a rock in the middle of the sea, hoping that they will not be found. But at midnight, on the eleventh birthday of Harry, the giant Hagrid appears in the hut and brings the boy a letter: Potter is invited to study at Hogwarts.

Hagrid on the birthday gives Harry an owl – in a magical world they carry mail. Also, the giant and the boy buy everything necessary for the school of magic, they take from the bank some kind of parcel and money for Potter left by his parents.

On the train Harry goes along with Ron Weasley. The boys immediately become friends, and the arrogant

Draco Malfoy is their enemy. Already in the school between Ron and Harry and the Malfoy gang there are constant clashes, the guys regularly violate school rules, losing points for their faculty Gryffindor. The all-knowing and boring Gryffindor Hermione Granger accidentally becomes a participant in their nightly walk around the school. They barely manage to go unnoticed. Hermione is outraged:

We could all be killed. or, worse still, expel from school.

At the first lesson on learning to fly on a broomstick, Harry climbs into the air, violating the teacher’s prohibition. It’s because the nasty Malfoy threw up the magic ball of the disciple of Gryffindor high up. Potter brilliantly manages to catch the ball. His trick is noticed by one of the professors. Harry is already thinking about the deduction, but instead the professor defines him as a catcher in the Gryffindor team in Quidditch – the catcher must catch a flying ball during the match, which is very difficult to notice.

Hermione again chastises Harry and Ron for violations. Ron accidentally offends the girl, saying that her friends’ absence is not surprising. Hermione goes to the toilet for a long time. At this time a giant troll appears in the school. The students are ordered to disperse to hostels, but worrying about Hermione, Ron and Harry go to her. In that wing they notice Professor Snape, a grim and unpleasant teacher, especially disliked Harry. The guys manage to save Hermione from the troll, for which they receive glasses for the faculty. Hermione Granger becomes their friend.

There are events that have survived, one can not but sympathize with each other. And the victory over the four-meter mountain troll is undoubtedly related to such events.

Harry learns that on the day of his appearance in the bank before the start of the school year there was an attempt to steal something very valuable, but the safe was empty. The boy remembers that Hagrid took from there some parcel. Friends find in the school room with a fierce three-headed dog, guarding the hatch: apparently, there is stored a package. Children suspect that Snegg wants to kidnap him.

In the first Quidditch match, someone tries to throw Harry off the broom, but he manages to catch the ball and bring the victory to Gryffindor. The guys think that the hated Snape wants to kill Potter.

Hagrid in conversation about the bundle is negotiated and pronounces the name of the unknown magician to the children. After a long search, they find out that he is the creator of the philosopher’s stone. So Snape’s goal is stone.

Malfoy learns that Hagrid is holding a dragon baby, although this is forbidden. Rona dragon bites his hand, and the boy gets into the hospital wing. Harry and Hermione decide to transfer the baby to Romania through friends of brother Ron at midnight on the roof of the school. There they make their way under the invisibility cloak, donated by Harry to the unknown for Christmas. But the children forget it on the roof, and in the corridor they are caught by an angry professor: she has already caught Malfoy. She believes that the story of the dragon was invented by Harry to provoke Malfoy to break the rules. All violators are punished: they will spend the night in the Forbidden Forest, and their faculties are removed huge points. Now Gryffindor does not become the leader of the year. All the students stop talking to Harry, despite his popularity.

In the forest, Harry sees a strange creature drinking the blood of a unicorn. The boy begins to suffer a terrible scar on his forehead. Saves Harry from the horrible being of the centaur. He explains that the blood of a unicorn is drunk only by those in whom nothing human remains. The boy thinks that Volan-De-Mort is involved in this.

Harry repeatedly hears Snegg threatening Professor Quirrell, the stuttering dumbass. Friends believe that Quirrell learned about Snape’s intention to steal a stone, but can not resist it.

Director Dumbledore is leaving for an urgent matter. Harry, Ron and Hermione feel the trouble and decide to enter the hatch where the philosopher’s stone is kept. Learning from Hagrid that the dog lulls music. Harry and Hermione take turns in awkwardly extracting sounds from the flute, and the guys jump into the hatch. They cope with sorcerer’s spells, but only one can reach the end. In the dungeon Harry meets Quirrell. All this time the professor was pretending, Snape guessed his plans. It was Quirrell who tried to kill Harry during the match, released the troll and drank the unicorn’s blood. Quirrell has the face of Vahlan-de-Mort on the back of his head, which the professor has covered with a turban.

With the help of Potter, he wants to get a stone, but can not touch the boy: Quirrell gets terrible burns. During the battle, Harry loses consciousness.

Waking up at the school hospital, the boy sees Dumbledore in front of him: the director managed to save him. The professor explains that Potter was helped by the love of his mother, who now lives in Harry himself. It was love that was unbearable for Quirrell and Volan De Mort, she burned Quirrell at the touch of a child.

Love leaves its mark. If you are so strongly loved, then even when a person who loves you dies, you still remain under his protection.

From the director, Harry learns that his father and Snape were at enmity, but Potter once saved his life. That’s why Snape tried with all his might to save Harry from Quirrell, wishing so to repay the debt to Potter.

The philosopher’s stone will be destroyed by his six-hundred-year-old creator. The boy is saddened by this news, because the creator of the stone will die. Dumbledore comforts:

For a highly organized mind, death is another adventure.

At the last school banquet of friends for their exploits are awarded with big glasses, and Gryffindor becomes the leader of the year.
