Painting by Repin “Abramtsevo: Summer Landscape”
On this canvas is connected man and nature. Such creations are most valuable. Abramtsevo portrayed many artists, but only Repin is so touching and genuinely lyrical.
We see the park on one of the summer days. There are many old trees that merge into the thickets in the background. The shady thicket is so thick that it seems absolutely wild.
In the foreground we see the bridge. It is small and already old enough, one board is not even enough. On it stands a woman in a white long dress. Who is she? This is the artist’s wife. She walks, enjoying the beauty of this virgin nature.
On the one hand, it may seem that this picture is gloomy. Repin used too many dark colors. But the viewer does not have a depressing feeling. This picture is illuminated from the inside. The female figure is illuminated by the rays of the sun making its way through the trees. Far behind the dense branches, there is a radiance of the summer day.
It is here, in this corner of natural untouched nature, that a person can enjoy silence, reflect and be alone with his thoughts. How often do we miss this in life.
The creation of Repin is unusually bold. The whole greenery is three-dimensional, each plank of the bridge is palpable. The artist prescribed all the folds of the dress. It is not a homogeneous white color, but rather golden, thanks to the sun’s rays. We do not see the woman’s face, but it feels that she is young and full of life. She came here to think about life and feel her oneness with nature. Repin managed to convey her grace, under the folds of a long dress, graceful curves of her figure are felt. It completely harmonizes with the depicted nature, absolutely merging with it. It is impossible to separate one from another. This grandiose single whole, conveying the most intimate thoughts of the painter.
