Memories of childhood

Childhood for every person is a unique and best time. But sometimes there are circumstances when you have to quickly grow up, suffer misfortunes and hunger on an equal basis with adults. So it was with the hero of retelling “Pancakes from acacia.” Becoming an adult, he goes the spring blooming city and feels completely different from all the people around. The smell of acacia and lilac reminds him of how in the forty-seventh year, hunger had pancakes made of acacia.

Actually, these are not pancakes, but some kind of “sugary-sweet-salty white mass,” which caused only faintness. Such food, none of their relatives, despite the terrible famine, could not, except for Volodka’s brother. The picture of how the brother was swallowing with tears in his eyes that brew, and the sagging mother cried behind him, forever remained in the memory of the hero. And for him the smell of acacia flowers is a terrible and unforgettable memory of childhood, of a brother

and mother.

The main heroine of the same name is B. Grinchenko portrayed as a national avenger. In the work the girl’s feat is poeticized, which at the cost of her own life saves the village from the assault of the Tatars. I am amazed by the fearlessness of this heroine, her courage, the fact that she worries not for her own life, but for the life of her fellow villagers. Olesya is sympathetic to suffering, to another’s grief, she is courageous and fearless. Having sent her brother away, she also worried about his life. And although the story is full of tragedy, since Olesya’s girl dies at the hands of the Tatars, he is hotly patriotic, since Olesya carried out a feat equal to the feat of Ivan Susanin. The girl is endowed with great willpower, indomitable spirit. Since only such a person, knowing about the mortal danger, could find the strength and courage to meet his enemies and, in the end, destroy them.

I think Olesya was able to carry out this feat, as she was brought up on the high principles of people’s ethics and morality: do not disgrace your parents, do not fall in the eyes of elders, come to the aid of others.
