As inventions of the late 19th – early 20th century. changed people’s lives?
In the second half of 19 – in the early 20 century. In Ukraine, important changes occurred in people’s daily lives, primarily due to the emergence of new modes of transport and new ways of transmitting information over long distances. It was then that the first railways were built: “Peremyshl-Lviv” in the west and “Odessa-Balta” in the south.
Then, on the verge of centuries, except for the horse, began to use electric trams. The first tram in Ukraine appeared in Kiev in 1892. A few years later the tram began to run in Lviv and Yekaterinoslav. Since 1905 in Kiev, an electric cable hoist – funicular – began to operate.
In the summer of 1891 on the pavement of the central street of Odessa – Deribasovskaya – an unprecedented crew hitherto thundered – without a horse!
It was the first car of the brand “Panar-Levassor”
Odessa was the city where telephone communication was established for the first time in Ukraine. This happened in 1882. The following year, the first telephone sets appeared in Kiev – in the restaurant of a Swiss businessman on Khreshchatyk. The connection was established between the dining hall and the kitchen, so that visitors could make an order by phone.
Since the beginning of the 20th century. the first steps are made by domestic aircraft construction. In 1910 Alexander Kudashev for the first time in Ukraine flew several tens of meters on the plane of his own design K-1 – the first domestic aircraft with a gasoline engine.
1951 was the year that marked the beginning of Ukrainian television: the professional television center on Khreshchatyk began to operate in Kiev. In the photo on the right – the first mass TV KVN-49. His black and white screen was the size of a palm. To enlarge the image, a magnifying glass was placed in front of the screen, distilled water was poured between the glasses.
