Biography Tracy Austin


Tracy Austin – tennis player, was born on December 12, 1962 in the city of Palo Verdes, California. Biography Tracy Austin is known as the champion who defeated Evert and Navratilova.

Teenydzherka won a place among the best tennis players of the era of Chris Evert and Mirtina Navratilova. Tracy was a young girl with pigtails, when she became the youngest athlete who won professional competitions. Then in the 1977 game Austin won, being at the age of 14 years.

At 16, she won the US Open Championship, opposing Evert. Two years later, in 1981, Austin once again won the US championship, this time defeating Navratilova. Thus, the athlete took the lead in women’s tennis. However, due to a back injury, she had to withdraw from the sport in 1983.

For her biography Tracey Austin won 29 titles in singles. In 1992, the athlete was elected to the National Tennis Hall of Fame. So Tracy became the youngest representative of the hall. Since 1991, Austin has been giving tennis comments to the USA Network on-line. In addition, she occasionally comments on the BBC and the Australian Seven Network.

Additional information: Austin was the only one who managed to break the chain of 125 wins Chris Evert. It happened in Rome in 1979. Austin and her brother John won in the 1980 Wimbledon competition in the mixed doubles. Her brother Jeff married a fitness specialist Denis Austin.
