Biography Somov Orest M
(1793 – 1833)
Somov Orest Mikhailovich (10 or 11.12.1793 – 27.5.1833). Writer.
Was born in the Kharkov province. Father – Captain Mikhail Lukich Somov, mother – Agrafena Andreevna Stoykina. He was brought up in Kharkov University. His first poem was published in 1816 in the Ukrainian Herald, in 1818 he moved to Petersburg, one of the first professional writers, in 1819 he traveled abroad. An active member of practically all the periodicals published at that time, his work developed under the strong influence of the ideas of the Decembrists, in 1824-1826 the chief of staff in the board of the Russian-American company, where KF Ryleev was the ruler of the office. Member of the Free Society of Russian Literature (employee – 13.5.1818, full member – 24.5.1820).
The investigation found that the member of the secret societies of the Decembrists was not. Arrested on the night of 14.12.1825, as he lived in the same house and was close to the Decembrists KF Ryleev and AA Bestuzhev, 15.12 was taken to the Peter and Paul Fortress at 15 Alekseyevsky Ravelin, 3.1.1826 was transferred to the No. 5 Nikolskaya Curtain. By the highest order was released with a certificate of acquittal – 7.1.1826.
He published with A. A. Delvig the almanac “Northern Flowers” and “The Literary Gazette.” He died in Petersburg, is buried in the Smolensk cemetery. Wife – Marya Leontyevna MM; son – Nicholas (born 1831).
