Biography of Mickey Mantle
Mickey Mantle – a player in baseball, was born on October 20, 1931 in the city of Spavinau, Oklahoma. Best known as the strong batterer of the “New York Yankees”.
Mantle was the most beloved slugger of the “New York Yankees” after Babe Ruth. In the biography of Mickey Mantle, the first game for the Yankees took place in 1951. In the same year, Joe DiMaggio left baseball. Mantle replaced DiMaggio in midfield.
Mantle was famous for the power of the home run, committed both by right and left hand. During his career, the baseball player made 536 home runs. Mantle was named the most valuable player of the American League in 1956, 1957, 1962. Before his departure on March 1, 1969, Mantle, along with the Yankees, won seven US championships.
Being such a professional player as Mantle, you can remain great despite the leg problems that accompanied the athlete throughout his career. He barely stood on his foot during the US Championship in 1951, when he injured his knee against the cover of the sewer.
Strongly drinking athlete in 1994 turned to the Betty Ford clinic to combat alcoholism. Mantle received a liver for a transplant shortly before his death.
