In Paris, de Mui, the head of the Huguenots, striving for political revenge. Overhearing his conversation with Henry, the Duke of Alençon tries to convince de Mui that he is a more worthy challenger to the throne when he is emptied after the death of his brother Charles. That de Mui it was easier to penetrate the Louvre, Duke Francois advises him to sew the same cherry blossom as Margaret’s favorite – La Mole. François turns pale: it seems Henry has unraveled the evil intentions of his mother. He fervently persuades the King of Navarre to become the head of the Huguenot movement to guide him. Huguenots trust Henry, King Charles loves him, Francois himself has already prepared an act about his renunciation of succession in his favor: “Fate is in your hands!” The interlocutors shake hands – at this moment, Ekaterina Sienskaya enters the room. Hypocritically touched by the handshake of the brothers-kings, she triumphs triumphantly over Henry. At night, Morvel comes into his bedroom with guards and stumbles upon de Mui. Two guards were killed, Morvel was seriously wounded. The incident is another palace scandal. In fact, Henry owes his salvation not only to the leader of the Huguenots, but also to the King of Catholics: Carl led him out of the palace late at night. He decided to entrust Henry with his secret – to introduce the charming Marie Touche and their illegitimate son. Something funny happened on the way with them. They met on one of the dark streets the Duke of Guise and the Duke of Anjou (brother of Charles and Francois, without five minutes of the King of Poland) leading them to a house where, they said, is a meeting of two very illustrious ladies with two gentlemen who are entering the Louvre (speech, it goes without saying, is about Margarita and Henriette, having supper at the company of La Mole and Coconnas). The attempt to break into the house is met with a determined rebuff: pots, pelvic and snacks flew from the windows of the king and his retinue…
Returning to the palace, Henry finds out about the night prowess de Mui. However, the Duke of Alanson instilled in him the suspicion that it could be La Mole: a brave man who almost killed Morvel was dressed in a cherry cloak. The King of Navarre hurries to his wife: “A terrible suspicion hung over our friend!” “It’s impossible: he was at another place in the night.” Margot falls to her mother’s feet: “La Mole is innocent, he spent the night with me, if he is arrested, he will have to confess to it.” “Calm down, my daughter,” answers Queen Catherine, “I stand guard over your honor!”
The queen mother becomes clear: La Mole does not separate her daughter from Henry, on the contrary, he is their ally. The Duke of Alanson, at the suggestion of his mother, invites La Mole to her – and lies in wait for him with several faithful people in the dusk of the corridor. The plan is solved by the King of Navarre, he warns La Mol about the danger and advises him to hide. Conspiracy with de Mouy, La Mole prepares to join the Huguenots, following from a safe distance behind his lover, every evening going out on a date with him “in Spanish” on the balcony of the palace.
Maitre René spells the queen mother, predicting a speedy death of her son Charles – death violent. While making some other predictions, Rene, among other things, tells Queen Catherine about the fortune-telling for Margarita at the request of La Mole. We must hasten to break all the knots: in Paris – the Polish ambassadors who arrived for the coronation of the Duke of Anjou, she is obliged to provide the future for her sons! At her request, the master Rene impregnates with poison the ancient guidance on falconry, which she instructs to convey to the King of Navarre. But this book is in the hands of Charles IX. The incurably sick king makes falconry. De Mui, La Mole and Coconnas wait for King Henry in the forest to flee to the Huguenot camp. This plan was frustrated by the Duke of Alençon, consecrated into a conspiracy and at a decisive moment refused to compose Henry’s company.

Begin interrogations of captive conspirators. One of the proofs of La Mole’s evil intentions is a wax doll in royal regalia. The letter “M” on the place of the heart, pierced by a needle, – means, of course, “death” (morte)! La Mole can not reject this accusation: Queen Margarita, his divine lover, must remain out of suspicion. Two heads are chopped off to two friends. Having received them from the hands of the executioner, Margarita and Henrietta irrigate them with tears…
The hour of death is also close to Charles IX. He finally realizes that his ailment is the result of poisoning that his mother poisoned him and that the younger brother had transmitted the poison to him. He calls to himself the amiable Henrio, king of Navarre, and announces the decision to declare him regent and heir to the throne before the return of the Duke of Anjou from Poland. If the Duke of Anjou and will challenge Henry’s power, the latter will be able to present the Pope’s charter of his rights (the letter is already on the way). The Duke of Alanson must be imprisoned in the fortress, the Queen Mother – exiled to the monastery. His will the dying Karl announces to his mother and brother François. The Queen Mother rejoices: at least one of the gloomy prophecies of Maitre René has not come true! She makes a last attempt to eliminate Henry, dictating to Morvel a letter addressed to the state councilor de Sova: his wife is at the Hotel “Guiding Star” in the company of a dandy among his friends. What was allowed to Henry under King Charles – is impermissible under King Henry III, namesake and rival of the King of Navarre in the struggle for the throne. The calculation is simple: the jealous spouse will hurry to the place of the meeting – and the lover, whom he has endured for so many years, will be killed! On the guard at the door of the hotel are de Mui and two of his officers. Henry, warned of danger, jumps from the window and breaks down. De Mui persecutes Morvel, who came with the guards to note for the offended honor of M. de Sova – and kills him. Returning to the hotel, Henry sees the dying Charlotte:
