Biography of Lev Yashin


Lev Ivanovich Yashin – footballer, champion of the Olympics in 1956, champion of Europe, the USSR.

Born Lev Yashin October 22, 1929 in Moscow in a family of workers. During the Great Patriotic War, Yashin’s biography hosted a move to the Volga region. Despite the fact that in 1943 Lev started working at the plant, he devoted a lot of time to playing football. When the next year he moved to Moscow, in parallel with work at the factory played a goalkeeper.

In 1949, for the first time in his biography Lev Yashin began to play for the Moscow “Dynamo”. In 1953 he became the goalkeeper in the first team. From the next year I began to play for the USSR national team. Five times Yashin, together with the “Dynamo” won the USSR Championship, three times – at the USSR Cup.

Together with the team won the Summer Olympics in 1956, in 1960 – at the European Cup, in 1966 – at the World Championships, he took the 4th place. Also Yashin’s biography was marked by the highest football award – the Golden Ball. In 1971 he left the team, devoting himself to coaching.

In addition to football biography of Lev Yashin is known as a successful hockey player. However, hockey preferred football.
