Biography of Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln is the 16th US president.
Abraham was born on February 12, 1809 in a poor family. So, from an early age, Lincoln’s biography was filled with physical labor. Extreme poverty of the family did not allow Abraham to study: in school he studied only a year. Further knowledge was obtained independently. Being engaged in self-education, Abraham passed the exams well, which made it possible to start practice as a lawyer.
As an adherent of the Republicans, he was a member of the Illinois Legislative Assembly, as well as the House of Representatives of the Congress. In 1858, he lost the election to the post of US senator, and two years later he was elected president of the United States.
Acting as president has made Lincoln a national hero of the country. Lincoln struggled with the expansion of slavery, eventually could cancel it. He advocated the unification of the country, developed a railway transport network, and the agricultural sector of the United States.
April 14, 1868 during the theatrical performance was mortally wounded. Thus, the biography of Abraham Lincoln became known also as the first US president who was killed.
