The summary of the drama of AN Ostrovsky “The Thunderstorm”

The phenomenon of the first
Kuligin admires the beauty of the landscape. Kudryash, Shapkin and Kuligin see how Dicky scolds his nephew. Young people are unflattering about Savel Prokofievich and they say that Kabanikh
The second phenomenon
Wild calls Boris a parasite and forbids himself to be seen.
The third phenomenon
Boris tells Kuligin, Kudryash and Shapkin that his parents died of cholera and they and their sister were orphans. And soon the grandmother went into another world and bequeathed that Dikoy would pay them a part of the inheritance if the brother and sister would treat their uncle respectfully. Wild now does not want to share with his nephews, because he and his children have. Kuligin discusses the cruel customs of the city of Kalinov: in petty bourgeoisness, poverty and rudeness prevail, and people rich in poverty get rich. Feklusha enters with some woman and hypocritically says that the people in the city are “pious, many decorated with virtues.” Especially the wanderer extols Kabanov. Kuligin also calls the Kabanikh a hypocrite, as she gives to the beggars, but she “ate all her relatives”.

Boris talks about how happy Kuligin his dream of perpetual mobile. He himself is in love with a girl whom she can not even talk to,
The fifth phenomenon
Kabanova tells her son that now they have stopped respecting their parents, and reproaches him for being loyal to his wife. Tikhon tells her that she loves and respects her mother. Kabanikha begins to reproach her for not loving Katherine’s daughter-in-law; she is sure that her son treated her better, while she was single.
Phenomenon Six
Tikhon Kabanov complains that he always gets from his mother because of Katerina, and goes to Savel Prokofich to drink with him. Varvara asks for a long time not to stay in order to avoid the anger of the Kabanikha.
The phenomenon of the seventh
Varvara tells Katerina about her love for her and pity. Tikhon’s wife regrets that people do not fly like birds; tells how she was in the girls cheerful and cheerful, but at the Kabanovs completely withered. Katerina liked to go to church, her mother dressed her and did not like her in her daughter. The girl is tormented by a vague premonition, a premonition of death. Katerina admits to Varvara Kabanova that she loves not the husband, but the other person.
The phenomenon of the eighth
A lady appears with two lackeys and tells the girls that their beauty leads into the very pool and that they burn in the fire unquenchable.

Tikhon is going on the road for two weeks, and his mother gives him orders. Varvara is sure that as soon as he leaves the house, he immediately snorts.
The third phenomenon
Kabanova tells Tikhon that he ordered his wife how to live during the absence of her husband. The husband asks Katerina to listen to her mother-in-law, do not sit back, do not look at the windows and do not stare at young guys.
Phenomenon Four
Alone, Catherina asks her husband to take her along on her journey. Tikhon replies that at home he was “completely overlooked”, he wants to break free and have a rest from everyone. The girl asks to take from her some terrible oath, but Kabanov believes his wife.
The fifth phenomenon
Tikhon is escorted, and Kabanikh orders his son to bow down at his feet.

Kabanov argues that young people do not know any order and can not even say goodbye properly.
The phenomenon of the seventh
Kabanov reproaches the daughter-in-law for not crying after her husband’s departure on the porch.

Katerina talks about what kind of boredom and anguish in the house now reign. He regrets that they have no children with Tikhon.
The ninth
Varvara informs Katerina that her mother allowed them to spend the night in a gazebo.
Varya changed her mother’s key from the gate in the garden and wants to give it to Katerina for meetings with Boris. The girl does not want to take the key, but her sister-in-law persuades her, nevertheless, to take it and hide it just in case.
The phenomenon of the tenth
Katerina struggles with temptation. However, remembering her mother-in-law, her husband and her ruined youth, she decides to see Boris at night, because she is very much in love with him.

Scene One
A bench in front of the gate of the Kabanovs’ house.
The phenomenon of the first
Kabanov and Feklusha, sitting on a bench, talk about how beautiful the city of Kalinov is: quiet and decorated with many virtues.
The second phenomenon
Fits in with the wicked Diko and scolds with Kabanikha. Savel Prokofievich complains that all his money is asked, but he does not like it very much.
The third phenomenon
Boris regrets the impossibility of seeing Katerina. Kuligin, who meets a young man, says that everyone in the town is walking only to show their outfits, and behind the bars there is drunkenness, debauchery, tears in families. They see Varvara kissing with Curly.

Varvara asks Boris to come to the ravine behind the garden at night.

Boris and Kudryash are waiting at the ravine of their beloved. Curly calls the young man to prudence and caution.

During the meeting, Boris admits to Katerina in her feelings. The girl tries to drive away the lover, calls him a destroyer, but then she also confesses her love.

Curley praises Varya for the idea with the gate. Katerina is betraying her husband.

Varvara and Katerina leave, saying goodbye to their beloved.

Varvara informs Boris that Tikhon has arrived. Katerina is not herself, and Varya fears that she will do something stupid, like telling her husband everything. In the distance, there are thunderous rumblings, dripping rain.

Katerina is afraid of the beginning of a thunder-storm, anticipates a speedy death. Kabanikha says that the girl has many sins. Tikhon tries to protect his wife.
The fifth phenomenon
People say that a thunderstorm just does not go away: either someone dies or the house burns down. Katerina is sure that the storm will kill her.
Phenomenon Six
The lady appears and tells Katerina that she will introduce many people with her beauty in sin, that she is better off in the pool. Katerina first hides, but after a thunderbolt, she confesses to her husband’s treachery: “My whole heart is breaking! I can not stand it any more!” Mother! Tikhon! I am a sinner before God and before you! “

The phenomenon of the first
Kabanov admits to Kuligin that he drank all the way in Moscow, was glad that he broke free. Mother Tikhon says that Katerina is not enough to kill, but his wife feels sorry for him, since he loves her. Boris sent his uncle for three years to a merchant he knew. Varvara fled with Kudryash. Glasha comes and says that Katerina is missing.
The second phenomenon
Katerina goes alone and thinks about Boris, wants to say goodbye to him before his death.
The third phenomenon
Boris appears, Katerina complains about his mother-in-law. The young man reports that he is leaving for Siberia and can not cancel the trip.
Phenomenon Four
Katerina does not know where she can get to, and, saying goodbye to her lover, comes ashore.
The fifth phenomenon
Kuligin leads the Kabanovs to the shore, claiming that someone saw Katerina here. The girl rushes into the water.
Phenomenon Six
Boris wants to look at Katerina, but his mother does not let him. People carry a dead girl, and Kabanov runs to meet them.
The phenomenon of the seventh
Kuligin says that Katerina’s soul is already far away. Tikhon rushes to the body of his wife. Kabanikh believes that crying about Catherine’s sin, the son accuses her of the death of the girl. The mother promises to talk to him at home, and Tikhon Kabanov laments that he remained alive and suffering.
