Winter on the Student
In the winterhouse on the river Studenova lives an old hunter Eleska with the dog Muzgarka. The grandfather’s family died of cholera, the bear injured Elesk himself, but the familiar merchants arranged a cripple for the winter hut, where he beat a bird, sable, caught fish – that’s why he lived. Food and communication in winter brought carts; The old man regretted only that there was not enough bread and salt. Once he asked a young clerk to bring him a cockerel. He respected his grandfather. Eleske really liked the bird, he even bantered over the old Muzgarka, who, from decrepitude, did not hear even the approaching train. Muzgarka fell ill and died. The old man can not live and hunt alone – he takes the rooster in a knapsack and goes to the people in his native village on the Kolve river. The lone wanderer is attacked by wolves; my grandfather was unable to rise to his feet. Lying in the snow, Eleska heard how Muzgarko barked from under the earth – and soon he saw the dog and the vogul,
