Summary of the lighthouse

Ramsey Family: Father – Mr. Ramsey, mother – Mrs Ramsay (50 years old, but still quite attractive), children – Nancy, James, Cam, Pru, Rose, Andrew, Jasper, Roger. They live on the island of Skye. A lighthouse is visible in the distance. First in the narrative there are a lot of thoughts of the mother, she gives an assessment of all that is happening. Events are shown from her point of view. Children very much want to go to the lighthouse, throughout the book they ask to go there, their mother inspires, saying that tomorrow there will be good weather, and they will go, but my father always disappoints, saying that the weather will be bad. Therefore, the children are angry with their father, and James even wants to kill him.
Charles Tansley, from a poor family, came to stay with them. Children gave him the nickname “Atheist”, they disliked him. Minta Doyle and Paul Raleigh are family friends. In the middle

of the book they marry, but their married life did not work out. August Carmichael is an old poet. He takes opium. Every year he comes to them. Lily Brisco – artist William Banks – lodged with LB, tried to look after her, although suited her fathers. Everyone was sure that they would get married. But that did not happen.
One day Nancy, Minta and Paul went for a walk and promised to come before dinner, but Minta lost her grandmother’s brooch, and at that time the tide began and they had to return home. Paul decided that he would get up at dawn to find this brooch, but Minta would not say anything. Mrs. Ramsey was unhappy with their delay.
Prue and Lily appear, and at the end Lily becomes the main character. Time passes. War. Mother suddenly dies at night. Pru, married, dies from the first birth. Andrew dies in France from the explosion of a grenade. A. Carmichael released a collection of poems, which had an unexpected success.
The house was abandoned, the garden overgrown. One day, my father, Cam and James still went to the lighthouse. The father pulled the children out early in
the morning from bed to realize their childhood dream. But the children are not happy. The lighthouse no longer attracts them as before. They hate their father for always doing what he wants him to do. They decided to plot against the tyranny of their father and silently glance at him when he makes or says something confirming their theory: Mr. Ramsey is an intolerable selfish traitor to someone else’s dignity.
Lily remembers Mrs. Ramsey: “Some simply could not stand it, they considered it too harsh, self-assured, even its beauty irritated anyone.” The monotonous one was always said to be the same, and with her husband she could not put herself and secretive too “However, when they were already approaching to the lighthouse, my father suddenly praised James for being good at the boat, which James did not expect at all. The children were pleasantly amazed. Arriving at the lighthouse, they landed on the shore and unloaded bundles for the lighthouse keepers.
