“Running on the waves” Green in the summary
In the evening, Stets played cards. Among those present was Thomas Garvey, a young man who was stranded in Lisse because of a serious illness. During the game, Harvey heard a woman’s voice, clearly pronounced: “Running on the waves.” And the rest of the players did not hear anything.
The day before, Harvey watched from the window of the tavern as a girl descended from the steamer, who was behaving as if she had been secretly subordinated to herself and the people. The next morning, Thomas went to find out where the stranger struck him, and found out that her name was Beech Senyel.
For some reason, he saw the connection between the stranger and yesterday’s incident behind the cards. This conjecture was strengthened when, in the port, he saw a vessel with light contours and an inscription on its board: “Running on the waves.”
Captain Gez, an unfriendly and harsh man, refused to take Harvey by the passenger without the permission
With a note from Brown, the captain took Harvey almost kindly, introduced his assistants Syncrite and Butler, who made a good impression, unlike the rest of the team, more like a rabble than a sailor.
During the voyage, Thomas learned that the ship was built by Ned Seniel. The portrait of his daughter Beech, Sen. Garvey, was already seen on the table in the captain’s cabin. Hez bought the ship when Ned went bankrupt.
Three women got on board in Dagon. Harvey did not want to take part in the fun that began with the captain, and he stayed at home. After a while, hearing the screams of one of the women and the threat of a drunken captain, Garvey intervened and, defending himself, knocked the captain down with a blow to the jaw.
In a frenzy, Gez ordered him to be put in a boat and let her into the open sea. When the boat was already taken from the side, the woman wrapped up from head to foot was skilfully jumping to Harvey. Under a hail of ridicule, they sailed away from the ship.
When the stranger spoke, Garvey realized that it was this voice he
Harvey listened to the legend with special attention, but only Daisy, Proctor’s niece, noticed this. Finally, “Nyrok” approached Gel-Guy. The city was in the power of the carnival. Harvey went along with the motley crowd and was about a marble figure, on the pedestal of which was the inscription: “Running on the waves.”
The city, it turns out, was founded by Williams Hobs, who collapsed a hundred years ago in the surrounding waters. And Freesi Grant rescued him, who came running along the waves and called the course, which led him to the deserted shore then, where he settled.
Then Harvey hailed a woman and said that in the theater he was waiting for a person in a yellow dress with a brown fringe. Without doubting that it was Biche Senyel, Harvey hurried to the theater. But the woman dressed, as was said, was Daisy. She was disappointed that Garvey called her by the name of Beech, and quickly left. A minute later Garvey saw Beecha Senyel. She brought the money and was now looking for a meeting with Gez to buy back the ship. Harvey was able to find out in which hotel Gez stopped. The next morning he went there with Butler. They went up to the captain. Gez was lying with a shot through his head.
The people came running. Suddenly led Bicea Senyel. It turned out that the day before the captain was very drunk. In the morning the young lady came to him, and then a shot rang out. The girl was detained on the stairs. Butler started talking and confessed that he killed Geza.
He had his own account with the fraudster. It turns out that “Running on the waves” was carrying a load of opium, and Butler was owed a large part of the income, but the captain deceived him.
He did not find Geza in the room, and when he appeared with the lady, Butler hid in the closet. But the meeting ended in an ugly scene, and to get rid of Gez, the girl jumped out of the window to the landing, where she was later detained. When Butler got out of the closet, the captain attacked him, and Butler had no choice but to kill him.
After learning the truth about the ship, Beech ordered to sell the desecrated ship from the auction. Before parting Garvey told Beech about his meeting with Frei Grant. Beech suddenly began to insist that his story – a legend. Harvey thought that Daisy would have taken his story with complete confidence, and regretfully remembered that Daisy was betrothed.
Some time passed. One day, in Lega Garvey, he met Daisy. She broke up with the bridegroom, and in her story there was no regret. Soon Garvey and Dazi got married. Their house on the beach was visited by Dr. Filatr.
He told about the fate of the ship “Running on the waves,” the dilapidated body of which he found near the desert island. As well as under what circumstances the crew left the ship, it remained a mystery.
I saw Filatr and Biche Senyel. She was already married and gave for Harvey a short letter with a wish of happiness.
Daisy, she said, expected that the letter would recognize Harvey’s right to see what he wanted. Dazi Garvey speaks on behalf of everyone: “Thomas Garvey, you’re right.” It was as you told me. “Frey Grant!” You exist! Answer! “
“Good evening, friends,” we heard from the sea, “I’m in a hurry, I’m running…”
