Biography of Joseph Stalin


Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin – political, military leader, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU, head of the government of the USSR.

He was born in a poor family in the Georgian city of Gori on December 21.

In his native city he studied at a theological school, then in the Orthodox seminary of Tbilisi. Pre-revolutionary years in Stalin’s biography took place in an active struggle. The Bolshevik was many times under arrest, in exile, and served in many committees of the RSDLP. Like Vladimir Lenin, Stalin was one of the main workers of the newspaper Pravda. After the work “Marxism and the national question” Lenin saw Stalin as an assistant in solving national, Bolshevik questions.

From 1908 to 1910, in his biography, Joseph Stalin was in exile in the town of Solvychegodsk, and from 1913 to 1917 – in the village of Kureika. As a result of the February Revolution, for some time before Lenin’s arrival, he was one

of the leaders of the Central Committee, and after the October Revolution he became the People’s Commissar of Nationalities in the Council of People’s Commissars.

During the civil war, Stalin was authorized to deal with economic affairs of the southern regions. Stalin’s personality was then manifested as a supporter of the regime of terror, despite the fact that he was an excellent military organizer. In 1922 he was elected General Secretary of the Central Committee. When Lenin retreated from active political activity, the power actually belonged to the Politburo.

At the Thirteenth Congress of the RCP, Stalin announced his resignation, but the majority decision was abandoned. After the strengthening of power in the biography of Stalin began to pursue a policy of collectivization, industrialization. At the same time began the cult of Stalin. The development of the economy went according to Stalin’s plan with the rise of heavy industry. Collective farms were formed, and dispossession was taking place. As a result of this policy, mass terror, up to 20 million people died in the country.

the Great Patriotic War in Stalin’s biography the positions of the Chairman of the Defense Committee, Supreme Commander-in-Chief, People’s Commissar of Defense were combined. In the postwar years he brutally suppressed the nationalist movement, Soviet ideology gained ground.

He was married twice. Stalin’s first wife: Ekaterina Svanidze, the second – Nadezhda Alliluyeva. He had two sons: Jacob and Vasily Stalin. Stalin’s daughter Svetlana was an emigrant, she lived in Switzerland, England, USA.

The dictator had several places of rest. Stalin’s dacha, located in Kuntsevo, is called Near. It was there that Stalin’s death resulted from paralysis.
