Biography of Conrad Hilton


Conrad Hilton – a businessman, was born on December 25, 1887 in the city of San Antonio in New Mexico. Hilton’s biography is best known as the founder of the Hilton Hotels. At birth, he was named Conrad Nicholson Hilton.

Conrad Hilton founded an international line of business hotels that bore his name. His first hotel, he bought in 1919. And in 1925 in Dallas, he founded the first hotel, which was named Hilton. Hilton hotels were growing all over the country. So he became one of the richest businessmen in the world. Hilton also bought other prestigious homes, Sir Francis Drake in San Francisco, Waldorf-Astoria in New York, Palmer House in Chicago.

Conrad’s son, Barron Hilton, inherited his father’s fortune, as well as the head of the firm. By 2000, the corporation owned nearly 500 hotels worldwide. Conrad Hilton died in 1979, leaving a lot of his estate of the charitable organization of the name of Conrad Hilton.

He also financially provided the college of the hotel and restaurant department of the name of Conrad Hilton at the University of Houston. In 1957, the biography of Conrad Hilton was published under the title “Be My Guest”.

Additional information: Hilton had three sons from his first wife, Mary Barron: Conrad Jr., William Barron, Eric Michael. From his second wife Za Za Gabor Conrad Hilton had a daughter Francesca. On the actress Gabor Hilton married in 1942, and divorced in 1947. Son Conrad Jr. was the first husband of Elizabeth Taylor. Hilton is the great-grandfather of the famous secular party girls Nicky and Paris Hilton.
