The summary of the story “Dry bread”

An interesting story about a little boy Mitya 7 years old and his mother. Father Mitya died after the war, and grandfather even earlier, Mitya did not even really remember him. His mother worked on the field, harnessed oxen and plowed the land to collect a rich harvest of bread. But the summer turned out to be arid and the bread perished. Mitya was impatient to grow up and stand up for the plow, as he could see how hard this work was given to his mother. And he did everything in his power to grow faster, for which he ate bread, potatoes, and all the time he looked at the shadow – did not she grow up.
Once, in an old barn, in a corner where unnecessary things lay with his father and grandfather, Mitya found a pointed oak root. Mitya decided that it was a spinning wheel and went to the field to help the bread grow. Since there was a drought, the bread did not have enough moisture, the morning dew could not pass to the roots, as the earth was caked and hard. Spikes died. And Mitya came to their aid, he chopped the ground between the rows, and at the roots he loosened the earth with his hands. Once, during this occupation, he was caught by a local teacher. Mitya had not yet gone to school, he was going to fall in the fall, but the teacher knew. When the teacher saw and found out what Mitya was doing, she began to help him loosen the earth with one hand, since she lost the second hand in the war. And the next day the teacher brought with her seven more children from the first and second class and they all started helping to survive the collective farm bread.
