Cheremysh, brother of the hero
A successful attempt to create a novel about the new school was the book “Cheremish – brother of the hero” (1938), which survived many publications. In it, the writer seeks to solve the social and moral problems that are relevant to the younger generation of that time, concerning the choice of the ideal in life, the notion of honor and heroism, fidelity and courage. Especially the author succeeded in the image of the main character of the book – Geshka Cheremish, the boy-orphanage dreaming about his older brother. The charm and attraction of this teenager strengthen his early-formed character, purposefulness, the ability to truly be friends, the chivalrous attitude to contemporaries, the passion for sports and even his agonizing experiences because the beautiful dream has imperceptibly turned into a shameful lie in which he himself is courageous confessed to the famous pilot. Other images of schoolchildren are also remembered, for example: Ani Baratova, the “crimson” respected Fyodor Plintus. The complex psychology of teenage boys is revealed by the author with subtle humor. Of the adult heroes, Klimentiy Cheremish is most successful, whose prototype was Valery Chkalov. A sharp conflict, mysterious and tense situations increase the entertaining of the book.
