Sparrows are just like people’s: adult sparrows and sparrows are boring and talk about everything, as in books it is written, and young people live by their own minds.
Once upon a time there was a yellow-throated sparrow, his name was Pudik, and he lived above the window of the bathhouse, behind the upper clypeus, in a warm nest of pakli, mosses and other soft materials. He had not tried to fly, but he was already waving his wings and looking out of the nest: he wanted to know as soon as possible – what is the world of God and is it suitable for him?
– I’m sorry, what? asked the sparrow-mother.
He shook his wings and, looking at the ground, chirped:
“Too black, too much!”
Daddy flew in, brought the insects to Pudika and boasted:
“Am I cheated?”
Mom-sparrow approved it:
– Chiv, chiv!
And Pudik swallowed the insects and thought: “What

do they do – they’ve given worms with legs-a miracle!”. And everything protruded from the nest, he looked at everything.
“A child, a child,” the mother was worried. “Look, you’re cheburashka!”
– Than, than? asked Pudik.
– Yes, not what, but fall to the ground, cat – chick! and will eat! – explained my father, flying away on a hunt.
So it all went, and the wings did not hurry to grow.
Once the wind blew – Pudik asks:
– What, what?
– The wind will blow on you – chirik! and drop it to the ground-to the cat! explained his mother.
This did not please Pudika, he said:
– And why do the trees swing? Let them stop, then there will be no wind…
She tried to explain to him that it was not so, but he did not believe it – he liked to explain everything in his own way.
“Purely the wings were cut off by a cat,” said Pudik, “some stones have remained!”
“It’s a man, they’re all wingless!” said
the sparrow.
– Why?
“They have such a rank in order to live without wings, they always jump on their feet, huh?”
– What for?
“If they had wings, they would have fished for us, like Daddy and me…
” “Nonsense!” said the Pudik. – Nonsense, nonsense! Everyone should have wings. It’s worse on the ground than in the air! .. When I grow up big, I’ll make everyone fly.
Pudik did not believe his mother; He still did not know that if his mother did not believe, it would end badly. He sat on the very edge of the nest and sang the verses of his own work in his throat:
Eh, wingless person,
You have two legs,
Although you are very great,
Eat your midges!
And I’m little at all,
But I eat it myself.
He sang, sang and fell out of the nest, and the sparrow behind him, and the cat – red, green eyes – right here. The Pudik was frightened, he spread his wings, swayed on his gray legs and chirped:
“I have the honor, I have the honor…
” And the sparrow pushes him aside, her feathers stand on end – a terrible, brave beak opens – catches the cat’s eye.
“Off, off!” Fly, Pudik, fly to the window, fly…
Fear lifted the sparrow from the ground, he jumped, waved his wings – once, once and – on the window! Then my mother flew – without a tail, but in great joy, sat next to him, pecked him in the back of his head and said:
– I’m sorry, what?
– Well! said the Pudik. “You can not learn everything at once!”
And the cat sits on the ground, peeling off the sparrows’ feathers from the paw, looks at them – red, green eyes and mourns mournfully:
– Miaa-akonky such a sparrow, as if we-a-cup… I-alas…
And it all ended well, if forget that my mother was left without a tail…
