Description of the genre picture A. Savrasov “Rooks arrived”

Probably, there is no such person in our former Soviet Union, who at least once in my life would not have seen the picture of the famous Russian artist A. K. Savrasov, “The Rooks Have Arrived.”

The first impression of this masterpiece is that you seem to be overwhelmed by the whiteness of light and this light is endless. Some warmth pours into you. Why, it’s spring! Of course, the real heat is still far away, the snow on the foreground of the picture says this. But it is already in dark veins, spots, lines. The snow is swollen with moisture, and there are saucers of water on it. The long shadows of the trees blossomed, like a notebook sheet, a white snowy space.

The impression of winter’s departure is reinforced by black rook on the snow in the left part of the picture. Just about to reveal the earth. And you already mentally imagine: it will not be long for her to be black, the grass of the grass will rise.

About approaching spring says and

spilling of living water in the right side of the canvas. Trees, figuratively speaking, stand “knee-high” in the water. Their trunks are reflected in this still dark water. River floods begin. Above the white and black earth there is grainy grayling. A great many birds… Their wings seemed to be entangled in the crowns of trees. Maybe it’s not the wings of birds at all, but the outlandish foliage, only black?

Of course, we do not hear sounds, but it seems they are deafening us. Sound and light flow from under the infinite dome of heaven. On the ground, in the background, the wooden parts of the buildings, their roofs, heated by the sun are already visible. The temple and the bell tower brighten in the distance. But the tops of the temple and the bell tower are dark. Feeling of struggle dark and light… Winter is still in force. This is indicated by a lonely smoke that curls above the hut. And yet our gaze again falls on the white snow. The foreground fascinates, captivates. Spring comes into its own, and the rooks are the symbol of its victory. The air seems to be boiling, agitated by the flapping of their strong wings. The rooks came and awakened nature.
